ReConnection

ReConnection brings together percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and harpist Catrin Finch in a powerful musical conversation. Composed by Jill Jarman, this intimate live performance explores isolation, hope and the connections that bring us together.

ReConnection brings together two extraordinary musicians: pioneering percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie and internationally celebrated harpist Catrin Finch. Composed by Jill Jarman and produced by Arts Trust Productions, the work explores how we find our way back to one another after experiences of distance, division and isolation.

Conceived in response to the pandemic, ReConnection speaks to enduring questions about identity, trust and belonging. Across a series of contrasting movements, it traces a journey towards renewed connection, inviting audiences to bring their own experiences and interpretations to the music.

The distinctive voices of harp and percussion create an intimate exchange. Delicate melodies meet rich textures and intricate rhythms, with moments of tension giving way to stillness, warmth and playfulness. Glennie’s remarkable range of sounds and Finch’s expressive harp playing reveal the possibilities of two instruments in conversation: sometimes challenging, sometimes supporting, always responding to one another.

Jarman’s music gives space to both the individuality of the performers and the relationship that develops between them. The result is a performance that rewards close listening, drawing attention to the subtle exchanges through which understanding can grow.

Reflecting Arts Trust Productions’ commitment to connecting people through culture, ReConnection offers a shared space for reflection and discovery. For audiences familiar with contemporary music and those encountering it for the first time, it is an invitation to listen with curiosity and experience the pleasure of connection through sound.
