Fractured is an innovative new production by renowned composer Jill Jarman, featuring extraordinary performers: Dame Evelyn Glennie, Catrin Finch, and Hugo Ticciati. This powerful work explores the fractures between people, communities, and the environment, using music as a means to heal and unite. At its heart, Fractured seeks to bridge the gap between the hearing, hard of hearing, and D/deaf/F communities through a profound reimagining of how we listen, echoing Glennie’s mission to ‘teach the world to listen.’ Jarman’s research work ‘resonance’ with Laura Ritchie for solo cello, provided the ethos for this project evolving into an ambitious exploration of multisensory music experiences, blending the science of Cymatics with stunning performances. Part of Jarman’s Across the Divide series, Fractured continues her journey of challenging inequalities in the music industry, featuring diverse and often underrepresented artists.

Currently in its research stage, Fractured is embarking on an exciting collaboration with Sean Chandler to develop a new syntax for the BSL community. This groundbreaking work aims to create a deeper connection with D/deaf/F audiences, enhancing their engagement with the production. Over the next year, this new BSL syntax will be carefully developed and incorporated into the touring production, ensuring that Fractured can continue to bridge gaps, not only through its music but also through innovative communication that resonates with all communities.
